Assam filmmaker Maharshi Tuhin Kashyap has been honored with the Secret Program Fellini Award at the 25th Lucania Film Festival in Pisticci, Italy, for his Assamese film KOK KOK KOKOOOK. Named after legendary director Federico Fellini, the award recognizes the film's inclusion in the festival's Secret Program, curated by acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Mohsen Makhmalbaf.
Dedicating the honour to his cast and crew, Kashyap noted that Makhmalbaf’s cinema has been a major influence on his work. The award coincides with the film's European premiere following its international debut at the Busan International Film Festival.
Written and directed by Kashyap and produced by S M Nazmul Haque, KOK KOK KOKOOOK blends magic realism with social commentary. It follows a migrant chicken seller whose deep bond with his RX100 motorcycle takes a surreal turn when the bike vanishes, driving him to physically transform into the vehicle itself to explore themes of identity, migration, and vulnerability.
