In a proud moment for the state, 15 personnel from Assam have been awarded national service and gallantry medals on the occasion of India's 80th Independence Day, celebrating their exceptional devotion to duty, professionalism, and courage.

Leading the honours, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Devojyoti Mukherjee was conferred the prestigious President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, standing out as the sole recipient of this highest distinction from Assam this year.

Eleven Assam Police personnel earned the Medal for Meritorious Service, including IGP V Siva Prasad Ganjala, AIG Sarmistha Barua, and Commandant Santanu Kumar Dutta.

Recognizing frontline emergency responders, Fire & Emergency Services personnel Leading Fireman Lohit Saikia and Sub-Officer Md Shaha Alom Sikdar, along with Home Guard Platoon Commander Abiram Islary, were also decorated for meritorious service.
