Portuguese icon Cristiano Ronaldo has indicated that the 2026–27 season may mark the end of his 25-year career.

In a Vogue interview published Sunday, August 16, 2026, the 41-year-old forward stated: “This is probably my last year of football, and I want to leave a spectacular legacy.” Although his Al Nassr contract runs through June 2027, the statement provides his clearest retirement timeline yet.

As he approaches his final campaign, Ronaldo is closing in on 1,000 official career goals. Currently at 976 goals in 1,330 appearances, he needs just 24 more to achieve the milestone. Following his recent private wedding to Georgina Rodríguez, Ronaldo ruled out coaching after retirement, opting instead to focus on club ownership, business ventures, and spending time with his family.
