- Covers 10 states, led by Tamil Nadu with 7 approved projects.
- Introduces first-time domestic manufacturing for high-tech components like hermetic terminals, coils, and electrolyte additives.
- Full domestic production already realized for device enclosures, relays, anode materials, and optical transceivers.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) approved projects worth ₹7,877 crore under the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) on Monday, 17 August 2026. The scheme aims to boost domestic production and reduce India’s dependence on imported electronic components. The latest approved projects include electrolyte additives, hermetic terminals used in defence-grade sealed assemblies, metalised films for capacitors, and coils—many of which were not previously manufactured in India.
With these new approvals, the total cumulative value of ECMS projects has reached ₹69,548 crore. Spread across 10 states, these projects are expected to generate ₹82,243 crore in production and create nearly 10,000 jobs. Tamil Nadu received the highest number of approvals, with seven projects. The government noted that domestic production has already achieved full self-reliance for several components, including enclosures, relays, anode material, and optical transceivers, underscoring the scheme’s growing role in strengthening India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
