Assam Police intercepted and seized 8.2 kilograms of morphine at Badarpur Ghat in a major drug bust. The seized narcotic is estimated to be worth Rs 13 crore in the illegal market. This operation took place amid ongoing law enforcement efforts to tackle drug trafficking in the state.
Sribhumi district SSP Leena Doley, along with senior police officers from Sribhumi and Cachar districts and personnel of the 38 Assam Rifles, were present during the operation.
According to officials, the seizure is part of a wider crackdown on narcotics smuggling routes operating through Assam. The police have intensified surveillance and raids in suspected areas to prevent illegal drug inflows. The morphine haul is one of the largest recent confiscations in the region.
