World No. 50 Ashmita Chaliha has reached her first HSBC BWF World Tour final at the VICTOR Korea Masters 2026. She defeated compatriot Rakshita Sree Santhosh Ramraj 21–13, 16–21, 21–13 in a intense semifinal match. Earlier, the Assam-born shuttler secured the biggest win of her campaign by edging top seed Hina Akechi in the quarterfinals. Chaliha also defeated Ririna Hiramoto and Kim Min Ji in straight games heading into that victory.
In the final, she will face fourth seed Han Qian Qi of China, with a chance to claim her first BWF World Tour title. This achievement marks Chaliha’s best result of the season, surpassing her semifinal appearance at the Macau Open in June. Her run highlights another major breakthrough for Indian badminton on the international stage and offers her a chance to establish herself among the sport's top names.
