In Sikkim, 37,724 names have been excluded from the draft electoral roll after the concerned electors did not submit their enumeration forms. This update comes as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls conducted by authorities to ensure registration accuracy. The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Sikkim, Mr Raj Kumar Yadav, IAS, today announced the publication of the Draft Electoral Roll under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 during a press conference held at the CEO Office, Baluwakhani, Gangtok.
The SIR is a process aimed at updating and revising the electoral rolls to include eligible voters and remove ineligible or outdated entries. According to official reports, the failure to submit enumeration forms was the primary reason for the exclusion of these names from the current draft rolls.
This revision is significant as it helps maintain the integrity of electoral data and ensures only eligible voters are listed for upcoming elections. The authorities continue to emphasize the importance of timely form submission to avoid exclusion.
