The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has secured the return of fugitive drug kingpin Virender Singh Basoya from the United Arab Emirates, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Friday as he hailed the ‘milestone’ of ‘zero-tolerance against narcotics’.

Basoya emerged as a key mastermind following a major drug bust involving cocaine shipments valued in excess of ₹5,000 crore. He had fled the country as law enforcement closed in on his distribution network.

Following a Non-Bailable Warrant issued by a Delhi court and Interpol notices, Indian agencies coordinated with UAE authorities to execute his repatriation. Now in NCB custody in New Delhi, Basoya's interrogation is expected to yield critical intelligence on international supply routes, money-laundering channels, and local accomplices.
