India is set to roll out its first set of 19 passenger rail coaches specifically made for Bangladesh. These coaches incorporate several unique design features and modifications, many developed for the first time in Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) type coaches. The enhancements cater to Bangladesh’s rail network requirements, reflecting India’s growing support to neighbouring nations in infrastructure development.
The coaches are expected to improve passenger experience and service reliability on Bangladesh’s rail routes, including fans in AC coaches, an integrated CCTV surveillance system, a passenger alarm system, partially openable windows, along with a Baby and Prayer Room. The initiative also underscores strengthening bilateral ties through cooperation in transport infrastructure.
Officials asserted that the modifications are a significant step in customizing Indian rail coach technology for overseas deployment. The project is part of broader efforts by Indian Railways to export technology and services internationally.
