A five-year-old girl, Arya, died and four members of her family—her father Ashokbhai, her mother, and two sisters—were hospitalised after suffering severe food poisoning from consuming takeout Kaju-Paneer curry in Surat, Gujarat.
The family, residents of Ranujadham Society, ordered the meal from Sheetal Restaurant and began experiencing severe stomach pain in the early morning of August 16. After an initial visit to a local clinic yielded no improvement, their condition deteriorated, leading to their admission at Sadvichar Hospital where Arya passed away within 15 to 20 minutes of arrival.
Medical tests confirmed food poisoning for the remaining four family members, prompting Gujarat Health Minister Praful Pansheriya to hold an urgent meeting with health officials to ensure proper treatment for the survivors, order the immediate sealing of Sheetal Restaurant, and direct strict legal action against those responsible.
