The third phase of the Green Energy Corridor (GEC) project, aimed at strengthening India's renewable energy infrastructure, is nearing Cabinet approval. This follows the successful completion of the first two phases, with the second phase involving an estimated outlay exceeding ₹50,000 crore. This phase focuses on extending and upgrading transmission networks to integrate increased wind and solar power capacities across multiple states. Authorities highlight its crucial role in advancing India's commitment to sustainable energy and modernizing the grid.
By expanding transmission infrastructure, the project will facilitate efficient power evacuation from renewable sources to demand centers, ensuring grid stability and reducing power curtailment. These enhancements support the country’s renewable energy targets and efforts to lower carbon emissions. Government approval is expected soon, marking an important milestone toward accelerating renewable energy integration and advancing India's clean energy transition goals.
