In Brief

  1. Elon Musk sparked controversy by referring to Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani as "the real boss of India and Prime Minister Ambani" while critiquing regulatory hurdles for Starlink.
  2. Slamming the remarks, Owaisi stated that while his party opposes Prime Minister Narendra Modi politically, external figures have no right to designate alternative leadership or interfere.
  3. Asserting that India alone will determine how its resources and markets are managed, Owaisi questioned, "Will a 'Gora'... dictate to us?"

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi launched a sharp verbal attack against Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, taking exception to recent comments targeting India's governance and corporate sector.

The controversy erupted after Musk, frustrated by delays and regulatory reviews concerning Starlink's planned entry into India's satellite broadband market, posted remarks labeling Reliance Industries head Mukesh Ambani as "the real boss of India and Prime Minister Ambani". The comments drew immediate domestic pushback across political lines.

Addressing the remarks, Owaisi made it clear that despite his persistent political opposition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration, he vehemently rejects foreign commentary attempting to undermine India's internal political hierarchy. "We've always opposed PM Narendra Modi... But he's referring to someone else as the PM," Owaisi noted. Emphasizing national autonomy over corporate and political disputes, he added, "India will decide how its resources are used. Will a 'Gora'... dictate to us?"

The Indian government has previously dismissed allegations of bias regarding its telecom authorization framework, maintaining that security clearances and spectrum regulations apply uniformly to all satellite communications operators.
