Indian gymnast Ariha Pangambam made history on Friday by becoming the first Indian to win a gold medal in the senior women’s individual event at the Aerobic Gymnastics Asian Championships. The 2026 championships took place in the Philippines from August 4 to 7.
Ariha delivered a standout performance in the final, scoring 19.100 points to secure the top spot. Her score included 8.650 points for artistry, 7.600 for execution, and 2.850 for difficulty, highlighting her exceptional skill and precision. This victory marks India’s first-ever gold in this event and a significant milestone on the international gymnastics stage.
Sudhir Mital, president of the Gymnastics Federation of India, praised Ariha and her coach, calling it "a great achievement for the country."
